Oxford Dictionaries: insidious (adjective), Proceeding in a gradual, ethereal way, yet with very harmful effects.

You are watching: Proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects; treacherous and crafty.

The definition I require (to define the action of yeast say within dough or a must, and also by metaphorical extension, little acts of kindness in society) is

Proceeding in a gradual, ethereal way, with beneficial effects that ultimately make a good difference.

There are related words v no ramifications of great or angry effect:Thesaurus.com offers synonyms for pervasive consisting of permeating and also pervading.

Is there though a single word (not a phrase, proverb … please) v the compelled meaning?

Well, it"s type of simplistic, but it can"t be understood as negative... You can use "blossoming".

If you"re talking about a societal tendency or social movement, I"m afraid the most known term is a phrase: grass-roots. (It usually has positive connotations.) (US)

Perhaps "nurturing" would be suitable.

I would suggest the native leavening.

Practically, leaven is any substance that, added to dough, causes it come rise and also increase in size, prepared for baking.

But it has, also, a metaphorical an interpretation :

a pervasive influence that modifies other or transforms it for the better. "they acted together an intellectual leaven to the warriors who dominated the city"

Laying/Creating the perfect problems for to germinate and make a an excellent difference

Enhancing

From the verb to enhance:

Intensify, increase, or further improve the quality, value, or degree of.

I particularly like this because the PIE root of insidious is *sed- an interpretation "to sit". While enhance has actually a Latin root in altare, "to raise up", i beg your pardon is a pretty parallel; it has actually a additional PIE source *al- definition "to grow, nourish" which nicely matches the yeast example.

I"m not precisely sure what girlfriend require, especially due to the fact that I was perplexed by the yeast bit. Yet I"ll try:

restorativeHaving the ability to regain health, strength, or well-being.‘the restorative strength of long walks’Oxford life Dictionaries

I recognize you"re in search of a word the connotes slow-acting. This might fit depending upon what the restorative is. If you"re dehydrated, drink water will ameliorate the problem an extremely quickly. Yet with most physical therapies I think they are usually slow-acting.

rehabilitative1. To restore to great health or advantageous life, as v therapy and educationAmerican legacy Dictionary

This word necessarily in my opinion means a slow-acting process. However a problem I see with it is the it indicates a fault from which to be rehabilitated.

I also thought that convalescent, however in the meanings I saw it is very details to recovering patients.

You can tell I"m thinking in physical health and wellness terms here.
